How Roca’s Relentless Engagement is Changing Young Lives

In this episode of 2nd Chances @ Work, host Arti Finn sits down with Solomon Baymon, Director of Roca Western Massachusetts, to explore how relentless engagement, education, and tailored reentry pathways are transforming the lives of high-risk young people.

A Springfield native, Baymon spent over 15 years in corrections, rising to Deputy Warden, before taking a bold leap—leaving his career, pension, and financial security behind to join Roca. His mission? To break the cycle of incarceration by meeting youth where they are, helping them rewire their thinking, and creating real opportunities for success.

From cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and workforce readiness to partnerships with law enforcement and courts, Baymon shares how Roca’s holistic model is reducing recidivism, increasing public safety, and giving young people the tools to rewrite their stories. With a 98% reduction in recidivism for those completing Roca’s three-phase model, his work is proving that engagement, persistence, and trust can change lives.

This is an episode filled with hope, hard truths, and practical insights for justice-impacted individuals, correctional leaders, and anyone invested in second chances. Tune in now to hear Baymon’s powerful journey—from enforcing rules inside correctional facilities to fighting for brighter futures on the outside.
