Greenfield, IN — Hancock County Jail in Greenfield, Indiana, is expanding its Orijin-powered educational programs to provide more incarcerated individuals with access to transformative learning and rehabilitation opportunities. Currently, the jail has around 285 Orijin tablets, with 225 actively licensed for educational use.
The program has already shown remarkable results. According to jail administrators, 150 incarcerated learners have collectively accumulated 56,101 days out of jail since their release—resulting in a cost savings of over $4.4 million for the county, based on an incarceration cost of $79.02 per day. These numbers highlight the financial and societal benefits of Orijin.
Beyond cost savings, Orijin-powered programming is changing lives. Former inmate Dustin C. Jameson initially joined the program for entertainment but went on to earn 30 certificates and 300 badges. Since his release, he has continued his education and now participates in the county’s Drug Court program, a testament to the long-term impact of educational access.
Hancock County Jail aims to increase access to education, vocational training, and rehabilitation programs, fostering a safer facility environment and providing incarcerated individuals with skills for successful reentry.
